Identifying with the anti hero - why do we do it?
Reading - there is a chapter in a British film book in the library about British gangster films which might be useful for you as it explores why as a culture films about criminals with criminals as main characters became popular.
The pleasure of transgression - do these narratives offer us those pleasures in a safe way?
Or do they express some sort of anxiety about ourselves or our society - that inside we are horrible, or society does not work, etc?
